iPod iPod Disconnected...

Hello everyone
i have a small problem....
my iPod mini was connected to my computer and without paying much attention to it, I closed my computer, forgetting that on my iPod mini's screen was a message saying: "do not disconnect"...
i heard that i shouldn't disconnect my iPod when this message is on the screen, and that i have to eject it before I disconnect it....
so....did i dammage my files by closing my mac and by not ejecting my iPod mini??
PLAESE HELP ME!
