Widescreen preset? What would that be used for? Could it be that there is a new iPod/iPad PDA type device with a wider screen? That would allow for visuals? We will se in about 2 hours...

where are you seeing Widescreen preset?

arn

The site does not list a widescreen mode. It states that "...there is also an iPod-wide preset selection menu."

This is probably a way of viewing the equalizer menu.

I think an equalizer would be fitting. I really think that it should come with update 1.1 to the iPod OS.

Sweet, I'm looking forward to that. It would be nice if we could edit the sound amplifier for each individual song... some of those DEAFEN me! It's annoying to have to adjust the sound for each song!

Umm.. English is my second language, but I am pretty certain iPod-wide setting means that in addition to setting the EQ for each song, you can also create a global EQ setting that will apply to all the songs. Just a hunch, of course, since at this point it's still vapourware.

Bigger hard drive too??

Cnet is reporting that Apple's is releasing a 10 Gig iPod too!! Will we be able to upgrade the old one?? Please??

that is a fake. someone definately hacked the OS. Why would that setting be different than the others.ie: Reapeat Off
Shuffle Off
So why is the Equilizer like this:EQ-Off
I think that it would be the same way as the other settings. Someone definately hacked the OS or is good with Photoshop.
Don't beleive any pic that you see

I'd put a small amount of money on it that the pic wasn't fake...and that we're going to see an iPod update tomorrow...

10 gig...
software updates w/more capability...

Sir, you are a genius in a crowd of hyper-people discussing possibilities on an Apple PDA. *readies his flamethrower*

Dude, the iPod Updater 1.1 is available for download.

20 EQ settings
Contact manager
dunno what else?

Apple's site has a new version of iTunes (2.0.4) as of today.. but little explanation.. I thought maybe it was just for exporting the EQ settings to the iPod but their site says something a bit different:

"iTunes 2.0.4 adds expanded AppleScript support, and improved stability and performance."

Hmm.. so just what stability and performance improvements were there?? Anyone have access to apple tech docs?

upgrade HD...

I meant are we going to be able to upgrade the 5 Gig HD to the 10 Gig one? Probably just in my dreams... :(

I have wondered the same thing. It seems as though it should be possible, since the "update" program allows you to recover a zero'd out iPod. I would think installing one of the PCMCIA hard drives into the iPod and running the restore option would make it functional. If I come across a good price for the 10Gig drive, I will try it out.

ITS HERE

goto apple.com/ipod and you'll see the 1.1 updater... it has contacts and an eq!

the 5gb is still $399
and the 10gb is $499...

so if you already bought one.. you are still with the best!!! very good to know!

i love it!!!!

i guess apple liked the thrd party contacts list idea and improved as only apple can!

way to go!

SWEET NEW STUFF!!!

Many changes on the updater!

when the normal song screen is up.. instead of the time playing and you click the button to see remaining time... etc.. now it shows both on the left and right - click the actio button and you get like itunes, the progress bar type thing only with a diamond.. kind of weird why they did this..

- the eq is under settings..
off - acoustic - bass booster - bass reducer - classical - dance - deep - electronic - flat - hip hop - jazz - latin - lounge - piano - pop - R & B - small speakers - spoken word - treble booster - " reducer - vocal booster

- the shuffle setting is different.. instead of on or off - its now off - songs - album.. very good!

- the about menu is gone.. now to get to the breakout game there is an "legal" choice.. still hit the action, hold it down and play the game.. no apparant change or other games

-and of course the contacts menu - with a tutorial and example.. (holds 1000 contacts by dragging the mac os x's address book 'vCards' into the contacts folder (in firewire mode) - the sample looks really good!

- some people wanted different lengths for the backlight timer.. if i remember correctly.. you got it! I think it was 1 - 2 -3 - 5 - always on.. now there is a 10 second selection.. kind of nice!

SO FAR SO GOOD!!! haven't actually listened to the eq's yet.. but soon.. wanted to report to those of you learry of updating.. (sp?) and those of you who don't have one!

thanks..

Equalizer settings on iPod

woahhhh.....thats cool :)

I am one of thoes individuals whoes ears simply refuse to accept any earbuds headphone. They all pup out sooner or later.
So I bought a B&O headphone with clip-on but they are actualy not as good as the original ones that come with the iPod since they lack a bit in the bass level.

Here comes the new equalizer for the iPod and you bet that helps!

You choose the setting "bass booster" and there you are....as good as the iPod buds.
I guess that goes for other none original earbuds too if they can't handle the bass level.
Of course, other settings improve the sound quality too....try "Vocal" on a Andrea Bocelli CD :)

Contact address on iPod

that's what I have been waiting for !

that's freaking awsome !!!

1.) download software

2.) go to address book and make new card...you can even export a photo from your iphoto library downsize it to about 60/70 and drag it in to the right corner field. (but you can't see the pic on your iPod :p

3.) enable harddisk capability on your iPod

4.) go to "Address book to iPod" and import your new card

voila.....have the world in your pocket.

And the font size is big enough to be comfortable to read :)

"

The diamond screen lets you use the scroll wheel to search through the current track quickly.
