Really happy, I was able to find 2 very remote rural area Future Shop stores in Canada with 1 iPod classic left at each location. They both are sending them to my nearest Futureshop store. Not a typical procedure, to send store to store. really happy they are doing it. Best of all, they are sending them for free and I am getting them at the clearance price. one for me and one to sell on ebay. End up getting most of my money back with the price they are going for now on eBay! Wow.

You buy a $199 phone on Verizon. You pay your $199 and that's it. For 2 years. You pay your data fee per line monthly, and your voice fee. Plus tax. That's it.

No, that's not it. Do you really think Apple or the carriers are in the business of losing money or breaking even, given their current market positions and business models? Absolutely not. As I said earlier, you are paying for that phone, full price, one way or another. That $199 is a DOWN PAYMENT on an entry-level iPhone 6. The remaining $450 is subsidized by the carriers, and they are getting that money (and possibly more) back from you, whether you realize that or not.

I'm pretty sure that the iPod Touch 64GB could also be a device dedicated to music though. And I bet they'll release a 128GB model with the next refresh too.

Why would somebody want a spinning hard drive in their pocket in 2014?

The problem with the iPod Touch is that I don't feel like it's a music player. It's more like 1093838 others things AND a music player.
And I don't feel like it has the best audio output/hardware.

And what exactly would flash memory bring to the iPod classic? Did you run into lag while searching threw your music?

Don't get me wrong, I love my 30gb Classic. The battery was great. It looks like its been run over and blasted with a shotgun but still works fine. The screen is scratched to hell but never cracked. Its a tank! But I've always wanted to upgrade it to the 160gb.

Once the prices go down on eBay I will totally pick one up. They were/are great for physical activities. The price is what killed it, it was way too high for what it was offering although Id rather mess up a $250 music player then an $850 phone.

1) Improved battery life. No moving parts = uses less power.
2) It would make the device lighter and possibly thinner. Although I rather settle for light weight vs thinner most of the time.
3) There was a short delay after scrolling through my music and picking a song to hearing it play.

I simply miss the click-wheel. This was like the best invention ever for quickly browsing music on the go.

Wow, if he is the father then I must be the grandfather. The NOMAD Jukebox came out way before the iPod. That was fun working on that team.

I had that thing to and returned it within 30 days because it was a piece of crap. The iPod was the answer to my portable music wish.

RIP my beautiful iPod Classic. I purchased it a year and a half ago and barely used it. The disk drive was making noises and taking too long in certain songs so I tried to restore it. Then it gave me the dreaded 1429 error. It's the disk drive.

Let's hope Apple still has spare disks to fix it instead of sending me a "substitue" which is what I'm dreading.
