High-quality headphones and MP3
This is a surreal thread that has gone from odd colored head-phones to sound quality of said head-phones, to advocacy of high quality head-phones for the iPod.
You guys are aware that all forms of compression are about removing the so called "unnoticed" frequencies (highs and lows) from the audio as part of the compression technique? (ie. It's going to sound slightly crappy no matter what) Seriously, unless you're encoding all your tunes with the lossless codec, it won't make much difference at all. It's like combining $25,000 speakers with a $2500 stereo system.
The stock iPod phones are good enough. (ie. >80% of the people who buy iPods won't even notice, and 19.99% of the rest won't care)
