iPod iTunes app + wifi expander

Hey guys, first post so please go easy.

Im having trouble with the iPod iTunes remote app connecting to my imac, currently my setup looks like this:

iMac -- Wifi Router -- Wifi Expander -- iPod Touch

I know they are all meant to be on the same network to function, but surely there must be a way to get the remote to talk through that expander?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
