The first three messages in http://ipod.macrumors.com are each visible three times there. The first 9 messages I see there today are:

After that, messages in the archive appear once. I see this behavior whether or not I have logged in to the MR site. I see the same behavior in Chrome and Safari. I don't see the behavior in other product archives, but I haven't exhaustively looked at all the archives.
 
I guess the iPod is that much of a declining business it needs to be mentioned thrice.
 
We're looking into it. I know what's causing it, but will take some tweaking.

The better question would be why he thought a sarcastic comment served any purpose whatsoever in this discussion.

It didn't come off as snarky to me. Seemed more like he was just making a silly joke.
