iPod iPod Mini Freezing

Ok, so I'm using all the latest software (10.4.8, iTunes 7, etc, etc) and when I plug my first gen iPod mini in all it does is freeze on the first bar of that charging battery icon. Mac doesn't see its there and it doesn't seem to charge either. Can't really do anything with it at all. Any suggestions?

Does Disk Utility recognise it? If so, can you erase and reformat it there? 🙂

Mine does that occasionally, just reset it by holding down the middle button and Menu for about 5 seconds.
