iPod ipod mini PC to mac

Hi, I have an ipod mini that was configured to my PC and itunes. Now that i have a mac, I want to use the itunes here, but when i plug the ipod mini to my MBP it does not read it, the icon does not pop up. How do i fix this problem?

A Windows-formatted iPod should still appear on a Mac, so that's odd. Anyway, open up iPod Updater (/Applications/Utilities) and see whether that sees it.

ok.

after about 10 minutes being plugged into the MBP, the icon appeared the ipod is updating. why is it so slow? and should i worry about having the ipod updater?
