ipod mini question

If you have a first generation ipod mini, and you do the battery replacement, do they give you the 18-hour battery?

I hate the new mini colors, so I'm tempted to just get an older one for less and plan on getting a new battery in a few years...

Ok, so I called the Apple Store, and the answer is "no." I'm tempted to say, "ah, 12 hours is enough, just give me that pretty blue..." but it's probably not smart.
