I plugged my friend's iPod Nano (2nd Gen) into my iMac the other day because he needed it charged while he was over. Turns out that somehow while it was plugged in, it locked the volume on his iPod. Now his volume won't go passed about 25%.

Help?

iPods have a volume limiter (I think it's controlled by iTunes). It was released a few months ago 🙂 maybe that's the reason the volume won't go past 25%

It's weird though that it would set it though. I just plugged it in to let it charged. They've had it plugged into his computer (XP) and it's never set the volume.

Ya, I know about the volume limiter, but it SET a password on his iPod. It's not 1111, so I don't have a clue. My Nano doesn't even have a password for it. 😕

Normally passwords are either 0000 or 1234 in case they haven't been set by the user. Have you tried those?

😕 then I have no idea! has your friend ever set a password on his iPod? maybe the screen lock or something? it might be the same password

That blows 🙁 The last thing I can think of is connecting the iPod to the computer it syncs to. It unlocks the screen lock, so it might unlock the volume limiter.

I thought about that too, but I got them to plug it into their computer but never had any luck.

I got him to come over, plugged it in and wiped it clean. Re-formated it and now everything is ok. He's just got to go put his songs on it now. 🙂

I thought of that, but I'd cringe at the thought of uploading all my music on to my iPod (I have USB 1.1 🙁)

Glad everything's fine again! 🙂

It's all saved, at least that's what he said. I'm a gonna laugh at him if it isn't. 😛
