I click sync and it shows "sychornizing" on the screen but it does nothing, it doesn't take the music in nor does it update my itunes plays. How do I fix this?

I have no other cable because it uses a special one for only ipod nano

I have restarted my computer, restored my ipod, installed updates, installed mavericks, and at this point I am really frustrated.

----------

Also I think the current cable is fine because I bought this Ipod like 1 month ago & the cable is working for manually putting a song into the ipod but I can't sync

----------

I'm about to try and reinstall itunes

It could be you, not the iPod nano. After syncing press eject in iTunes (not the way on widows u do for a normal USB drive- it is by the tiny picture of your nano at the top of the screen)
If u don't press eject it will erase everything when u unplug it

1. I always press eject

2. It doesn't even load songs onto the ipod when I press sync, nor does it update the play count in itunes, it is like i never pressed it basically.

And i don't think it is the cable because I can still manually upload music onto the ipod & do everything else but sync.
