I just got a 4G iPod mini... I'm not from the States but I came here for 5 weeks at this summer school thing, and I got an iPod on one of our trips to malls and stuff. I'm going home to Greece in a week, and I'm afraid my iPod has died out on me for good! The thing is, I don't have FULL access to any of the school computers, although I hardly think that would make a difference...

When I first got the iPod, something was wrong with the firmware, and I had to wait for two weeks until the next trip to a mall, so that I could get it fixed (because the limited access computers wouldn't open up the updater thingy on the CD that came wth the iPod). I got it fixed (restored, that is), and for the better part of a week, it worked. But a friend of mine dropped it, and now all I get is the sad iPod icon...

I tried plugging it into a Mac, but it just won't recognize it. What could be going on? Is it completely dead? Any chance that it might be saved somehow, either by myself or Apple service or anything at all?

I'm getting a little desperate, I know... But it's just gotten to me, I just got it to work and it suddenly DIED... :(

PS: I just realized I posted this thread in the wrong section... :| Sorry...

Duff-Man says...it could be dead...the hard drives are somewhat fragile as one might expect and not really made to be dropped. Having said that, I had dropped my old pod a couple times and it survived just fine. If you are lucky, it is possible a connection inside just got jarred loose and if you know a place you take it for a quick look-over you may luck out this time...hopefully....oh yeah!
