I've just ordered a new 10 GB iPod, and I was wondering what to do with my mp3s when I upgrade to 10.2. Is it possible to backup my mp3s to the iPod before doing a fresh install of 10.2 and then transferring the files back to my iBook? Or will it not let me do that? Thanks for the help.

Man, you and your quick replies... :p

Try Xpod for mp3s transferred via iTunes.

You can also use the iPod as a regular Hard Drive, but I have experienced some big time problems with it.

If you have another computer, you can transfer the music to it via Firewire Target Disk Mode.

Yes, just use your iPod as an external firewire drive, back up your mp3's, files, even the OS if you feel the need.

Best not to run you mac from the ipod but it can be done in an emergency if the need arises.

I tend to leave a gig free on my ipod for moving files around from home to work etc.

HTH
