    Hey guys,

I just purchased a 2nd gen iPod with a dead hard drive. It is the 10gb model - so the "slimmer" of the two. Given that, I want to put in a new drive.

    Option 1: Conventional HDD
I want to up the storage if I can. Would a 30GB from the slim iPod 4th gen and iPod photo work? I know it is not the ZIF of the 5th gen, so it should work in theory. I think it would fit, too.

Here is a model number: MK3006GAL. Any idea? If not, what is the biggest drive you guys know about that works?

    Option 2: Compact Flash
This idea is a lot more fun, but I have heard it doesn't really work on 1G and 2G iPods.

If I get the proper CF to IDE adapter, then will it work with a regular CF card? I heard there are issues with the firewire only interface recognizing the card. Would I need a special CF card?

Thanks, any advice on either question would be greatly appreciated!
