howdy all,

i'm a fan of customizing my iPod, and i was reading up on some articles the other day regarding how Apple apparently can "track" serial numbers (and do all the things that tracking allows... namely keep record of your musical interests, etc.). i imagine this is done primarily by way of the serial number embedded in the iPod and was wondering if anyone knows of a program out there that is able to rewrite the serial number, or change it, or make it so that it is unable to be seen by iTunes?

call me paranoid, but i don't like people keeping track of my purchases. i understand that this would cause problems if my iPod was ever stolen or needed to be serviced (i could just change it back to the serial number on the back of the thing...), but i'm not too worried about that.

cheers in advance.
