After you play a song and let the ipod sit, it has the habit of shutting off. To do anything again you must push the button and slide the bar. Is there anyway of stopping this or just delaying it for a while?

I think what you may need is to go to the Settings Menu > General > Auto lock > then choose your preferred option.
