I keep my iPod connected to my iMac at all times that I am not listening to it. I have it set so that it mounts as an external drive. Whenever I wake my computer from sleep, I get the message about the storage device that I have not removed was not properly put away, files may be damaged, yada, yada, yada. (The iPod icon DOES remain on the desktop.) Also, iTunes opens and begins updating the iPod as if I have just hooked it up. So, as far as the error message goes, why is it doing this? Can I stop it? Could I really be damaging my data even though I have not disconnected my iPod? And, about iTunes opening, this is just annoying. Can I stop it from opening when I am just waking my computer from sleep?

Thanks.

When you put the computer to sleep, it disconnects the drive forcefully, just as if you just un-plugged it. If it's not transferring data, I think that it should be fine. When you wake the computer up from sleep, the firewire bus becomes active again, and it's like you just plugged it back in.

I'm waiting for my iPod... It's in Austin, TX right now, and it should get here tomorrow! :D :D :D

Lets get to the important matters, shall we.
:) :)

But seriously, is that legal????
;) ;)

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Anyway, bffsldr & madimadam, my taste in music depends entirely on my mood. I mainly listen to rap and r&b, but I like bits of everything. I do have Wycleff Jean and Johnny Cash performing Delia's Gone together. (If anyone doesn't know, Wycleff is a rapper and Johnny is a country singer.) So I guess I'm not the only one with strange tastes in music. :)
