I'm trying to fix an ipod that I haven't used for a long long time. Anyways, I've taken out the battery and replaced it but it still only lasts for about an hour. In fact, I can turn it off and leave it sitting for an hour and when I come back the battery will be dead or so the screen says. I'm not really sure if it is the battery since I have just replaced it with a new one. Any ideas on what could be causing it to be doing this? Thanks.

Either the Cable or Battery

Blue Mule: i agree with tandude9 - you are either using a usb cable to charge up your third generation ipod (the only iPod that CAN'T be charged up properly via USB) and/or you need a new battery. There are load of 3rd party ipod battery companies out there but I am partial to ipodjuice.com - i used them when my ipod mini died and it's been playing better than ever since i installed their new battery. let us know how it all turns out.
