“Tom Cruise has brought Katie Holmes an iPod loaded with 300 of her favorite songs, to keep her from making a sound during childbirth…”

How can she give birth without making a sound????????!!!!!! I don’t believe she can do that even if she has an iPod on her ears….i don’t believe this sh*&!! Do you???

She must have amazing control to do it silently.. When I passed my kidney stone w/o pain killers (it was accidental, but welcomed), I screamed. (Kidney stones are equated to the pain experienced in childbirth.)

I call }[.. on this one. :p

i definitely agree about that pain thing thats why im not sure an iPod can really help here for screaming...

maybe instead of screaming, she'll heave it across the room?

I'm just brainstorming.. Hmm.

Maybe she can crush it in her teeth. :p

I've heard that, in rare cases, childbirth is completely painless, or even more rarely, pleasurable.

So what's the official word on them two? Are they still together? Like I care, but anyway...

Hmm.. Take a survey of mothers and report back.

*tapes knees together*
Nope, no birthin' for me.
(someone told me I had "birthing hips" once. It was strange.)

"I call }[.. on this one." <--What does That Mean

And curious myself as to whether they are together or not...or whats happening with all that?

Just thinking about my stone being passed two years ago makes me wince ... what a wickedly painful experience. Best way to have Katie deliver in relative quiet is to have Cruise stay in another room with a sofa to destroy as he goes into his frenzied jumping mode.

Apparently (after reading a rebuttal on another site after they posted a store taking the mick), it's not Katie that has to give birth in silence. She's allowed to make all the noise she likes (unsurprisingly, since there are no pain relievers around) but the idea is for the environment to be quiet. So any midwives/observers should stay quiet for the majority of the time.

I wish she would just give birth in media silence.
Amen!

I think the whole silent birthing/no painkiller thing is a good indication that Scientology was man-made (and I don't mean created by humans, but by a male). And that's as political/religious as I'll go on that one.... :p

Well, I've given birth but I've never passed a kidney stone. Seeing my father go through that and knowing exactly what passing a kidney stone entails, I think I'd rather give birth.

They are still "together", for some values of "together". He was recently quoted as saying, "First the baby, then the film (Mission Impossible 3). Then, in summer, we want to get married."

What a tool.

So would I and that is not even a possibility.

yeah, what she said.

although apparently my body does better with c-sections, i was in labor for quite a while before anesthesia intervened. it was not as bad as i thought [labor] and although i didn't yell or freak out, i reserved the right to do so if i felt so compelled. it's a right every woman should have under the circumstances. ;)
that said, i'm having a tubal ligation in a couple weeks. (one kid is enough)

poor katie, i hope she shoves that iPod right up his pee hole and tells him to "be silent" about it. what a crock!
