Ipod to stereo help

How exactly is it connected? I use a headphone to RCA jack and it sounds great.

What's the bit rate/encoding of your music (i.e., 128kbps AAC or 32kbps MP3)?

i belieive 128 and the majority are converted from disc to itunes.

i have to keep the volume down.

If you're connecting your ipod from the headphone jack to your stereo then that is to be expected. Try using the dock which is a line-out and so the stereo controls everything instead.

128 is merely OK, I'd tryout 192.

i connected it directly . thanks i'll buy a dock. my first day with the ipod and just trying to figure it out.
