I have Jailbroken my friends first gen Ipod Touch twice now and both times I have first restored it using the correct 3.0 firmware - at that point the ipod volume controls appear where they should and function properly. After I jailbreak it he cannot adjust the volume because the volume control is no longer there. There are no physical keys on the first gen, the volume controls are on the screen where it shows the song playing. Same thing with youtube. Because of this he cannot hear the music playing on his earphones - no sound.

Any ideas???

do you mean the HUD that popsup when you double tap home button?

did you install something off cydia to transform the music and video to ipod.app?

When you install the 3.0 Firmware on a 1st gen touch, it loses it's volume controls when you double-click the Home button.

When you connect it headphones to the iPod, the volume controls appear.

That's dumb. I want to be able to adjust the volume before I plug headphones in so that I don't blast my ears off. :-/
