iPod touch Ipod Touch 1st Gen Won't Sync with Itunes

My daughters 1st generation Touch saw water (not sure how), still mostly works. Battery life shortened, screen a little cloudy, wireless still works. Will stay powered up with Wall charger, is not recognized with Computer or Itunes.

Any ideas how to get music backed up if i buy a refurb? she bought alot of music but it is still on her touch, and not all transfered to itunes library.

Any ideas?
I tried DFU and recovery mode and still will not connect to computer or itunes.

You can send an email to Apple, and explain the situation, and they will let you do a one-time free redownload all of your purchased music to iTunes. They did this for me and other people in the even of something like a hard drive crash.
