iPod touch iPod Touch 2G being reported as iPhone in iTunes

Title is basically my problem. Will this hurt the touch if it tries to upload iPhone software onto it?
Attached is an image, it even has "Ringtones" for an option.

no idts at least because pre itunes 8 u could put iphone apps on an itouch just the mic wouldnt work (obviously).

anythin u did 2 get it like that?? i want 2 try.

the only thing I could think of would be my USB hub/laptop fan malfunctioned once and it kept saying it could not sync with my "iPhone".
