iPod touch ipod touch 3rd gen 32gb fault

Hi i have a 32gb ipod touch i got it in february this year and it has just started shutting down and resetting itself instead of going into standby mode I was wondering if anyone can help and give me some advice as to what it might be.

you might need to add a little more information. Did this start happening after downloading a certain app? How often does it happen? Anything seem to trigger?
