Used iPhone 5's and 5c's should be about equivalent to the touch in price. They also have better resale value and they are not glued together so the battery can be changed. Though the 5c was discontinued recently so prices for that may have gone up since I last checked because people seem to want that one for the colors. The touch will be outdated and not supported in 8 months unless they release a new touch, you are buying a device that will last 8-9 months before it will be outdated.

Many people want a 64GB Touch. Rather than saying that a used iPhone 5/5C should be the equivalent price as a Touch 5, please give us some examples to back up your claim. A refurb 64GB Touch 5 is $239.00 while a refurb 32GB Touch 5 is $199.00 . A non-refurb 64GB Touch 5 is $299.00 while a non-refurb 32GB Touch 5 is $249.00 .

The iPhone 5 and 5C will also most likely not be supported in 8 months since they have an A6 processor. The only iPhone I would consider getting to replace a Touch 5 is an iPhone 5S or better (A7 processor).

The iPhone 5 and 5c also have 1gb of ram unlike the touch which has 512mb of ram. We all know the bottleneck on these devices is the skimpy amount of ram in them. The iPhone 6 also has 1gb of ram so I would think they would cut it off at the 512 devices and leave the 1gb devices since they aren't that different than the iPhone 6.

It's not time for the 5 and 5c yet and if Apple is still selling the 5th gen touch the 5 and 5c will most likely be supported until fall 2016 or iOS 10 so they will get iOS 9 and will probably end support with iOS 10.

If you want cheap I would recommend iPhone 4s, it has a lower quality screen but otherwise is close to the touch in terms of specs. It is also cheaper than the touch.

I also don't recommend the 3ds right now because there is a new model coming out that is going to play games the current one does not.. And it's already out in some countries.

It's not really a good time to be buying these types of items, too much new stuff right around the corner...

Not at all. The RAM is a minor consideration. Everything is going 64 bit so you will most likely need an A7 or better for IOS 9. If the iPhone 5, 5C runs IOS 9, the Touch 5 will also (although not as well).

If Apple doesn't discontinue the Touch 5 or start selling a Touch 6 (with an A7) by June 2015, the Touch 5 and the iPhone 5,5C will most likely run IOS 9. Otherwise, your purchase of an iPhone 5, 5C is most likely a very bad bet.

Don't waste your money on an iPhone 5,5C with an outdated A6 (non-64 bit) processor. Get an iPhone 5S or better.

Note - I'm still waiting on pricing for 64GB used iPhone 5, 5C :D.

If you intend for the device to play games, then 5G is the way to go. 4G can't handle much games without stuttering and lagging.

Buy one 5th generation touch and let both of them share?
