Please forgive me as I don't know whether this is best posted here or in the accessories section.

Does anyone know of any app or device that would allow someone to use a 4th Gen iPod Touch as the handset for a cordless phone?

I'm not necessarily looking to do VOIP. I want my home phone number to ring on my iPod Touch when I am at home and use my home phone connection, not my Internet connection.

I still want my home phone number to ring on the normal land line phones, I just want it to also ring on my iPod Touch, when I'm at home. Then, I want to be able to use my iPad Touch as a handset.

Does anyone know of a device that I could plug into a telephone jack to act as a cordless phone base station. Or maybe an app from the app store that would let me do this?

    Thank you.

I know of nothing that works that way. Some home cordless phones now have Bluetooth, where the home phone can act as a "headset" for your cell phone, but the ones I have seen don't work the other way around. (So, for example, when someone calls my cell phone, I can pick up my home phone to answer it.)

There are also things like Google Voice, where you can use VOIP apps on the iPod Touch, but it sounds like you don't want to do that. (That would make it so that the call is only[/] on your iPod Touch when you are using it.)

Thank you, Anon Freak. Yes, you are correct. I want to use a 4th Gen iPod Touch as a handset for my home phone land line.
