Update on Apple and the infamous iPod Touch (2012 model) with the "yellow tint" issue, also referred to as "Yellowgate" (an issue with the LCD displays used) in June this year to an Apple Store, but their only resolution was for me to cough up $$$$ for a replacement - so glad I didn't. BTW, I am in Australia.

Originally complained about this hardware fault to AppleCare and it's well known. Apple this month originally would only agree to replacing the iPod touch with the same 5th generation device (at no cost to me), which is no longer being manufactured or sold. Apple confirmed these are not repaired, only replaced.

This matter went to Customer Relations, and again they wanted to supply me with the old model which is now 3 years old, on the hope this does not happen again. Since I was not getting any satisfaction, I emailed a formal complaint to the CEO of Apple, and Apple's Legal Team in Cupertino via email stating I would take this to the ACCC if no response in 10 days. Apple legal got back to me and advised someone will call me soon in relation to the options regarding this problem.

I then got an email from Apple's Executive Liaison from Sydney called me this morning. Despite having the iPod for 2 years, Apple have decided to give me a full refund of the purchase price in order that I can purchase the new model. Pays to be persistent.

Didn't you post a similar thread a few weeks back, but ended by saying they swapped your ipt5 for an ipt6?

My memory is probably screwy but i remembered an extremely similarly worded thread and the poster was also based in Australia.

There was an issue as I was sure they were going to swap it for the new model, however they initially decided not too and instead wanted to supply the existing 3 year old model. So I took it further. Now they will refund me the total cost so I can purchase the new one.
