iPod touch ipod touch and messaging question

Is there an app that I can use either from my ipad or my iphone with an ipod touch user without using imessages or giving away my phone number.

An app which tell me if they or I are online etc and can have control over sounds, notification etc.

TextNow

TextNow will do the job. It assigns you a separate phone number.

You can use it to send texts to any cell phone number. I use it on my iPad, iPod touch 5, and even my Windows computer at home and at my office. It also allows you to send photos.

Super little app. Free. Enflick is the developer.

well, thansk for the recommendation, but I don't wan to send to a cell number but to aperson using ipod touch or ipad who just have an email add i guess.

can this app send to email addresses.

Absolutely it can. Email addys are no problem.
