Hi,

I have a 4th Gen iPod touch. I extended its warranty with Apple last year and it expires next Feb. However, it endured a cracked screen about a month ago so i had it replaced by a local shop who charged me a fraction of Apple's ridiculous quote. However, now since the iPod was opened as was required for the screen repair, does it void the AppleCare plan?

I'd be very grateful if someone could help me here.

Thanks

If you have any damage that is caused by that repair, then obviously that won't be covered. If the repair was done by someone who knows what they are doing, and used the right tools, then there should be no problem.

But how would they know if the iPod has been opened?

Most likely there are bits that were glued together, and you'd notice if the glue was replaced.
