Absolutely horrible after upgrading to iOS5. Charged it all night, and started using it an hour ago. The only thing I've been doing is listening to music through my headphones and browsing the web, and now, and hour later, the battery is at 20%. My battery life was better on iOS4, even when I was JB'd. I have bluetooth and location services off in a futile bid to get better battery time, as well as auto brightness. I'm on a 4th gen 32gb if that matters at all. Is there ANYTHING I can do?

You're not the only one. My iPod touch runs out of batter faster than a freaking ancient laptop. Mine is a 4th gen as well.

You have to try disabling different stuff until you identify the culprit.
Especially look at Notification Center and iCloud syncing (notably contacts).

But I like having my contacts synced... If I turn it off will it erase my contacts from my Mac?
