I've got a non-jailbroken ipod touch 2G running OS 3.1.1 with bluetooth activated.

And I've got a mac mini Core 2 Duo running OS 10.5.8.

The two devices "see" each other via bluetooth but won't pair. Each device appears in the other's list of recognized devices, but when I tell them to pair I get the following:

MINI: when I browse the ipod in bluetooth file exchange on the Mini I get the following: "The device does not have the necessary services."

IPOD: on the ipod in settings>general>bluetooth (which is "ON"), when I tap "my computer" in the list of devices, the ipod attempts to connect for a few seconds then give up.

Both the ipod and the mini are "discoverable".

Any suggestions on how I can get these two critters talking to each other?

thanks

Only enabled to pair with bluetooth headsets at present and even then it is constrained to basic functionality of play\pause and volume.

So I wouldn't be able to pair it with a bluetooth headset & mic either?

Why did Apple activate bluetooth on the ipod touch?

Now that the ipod touch has had its bluetooth activated, I am left to wonder why. What is the point of this activation? I have not been able to pair the device with anything.

Am I missing something?

I would love to have a bluetooth compatible headset for this device.

there are compatible BT headsets
multiplayer /w other ipods/iPhones
file sharing between ipods/iPhones through certain apps
compatible devices I suppose

Can anyone recommend a good bluetooth headset with a mic that is compatible?

Most stereo A2DP enabled headsets will pair, I am using a Samsung SBH-650 and the Motorola S9 and S9HD are popular. Microphone function is not yet enabled on the 2G Touch though may be usable on the 3G Touch for voice control as it is on the iPhone but have not read any comments on it. I don't know why Apple are dragging there feet on enabling the next\prev functionality but at the moment with only play\pause and volume it is more novelty than practical feature.
