So I have recently moved from PCs and Zunes To Macs and Ipods. I have had my Ipod touch 2g for 3 days now and im looking into jailbreaking it. So I DLed PWNtools and downloaded the 2.o firmware and I read that the firmware you load into PWNtools has to be the same firmware thats on your ipod touch. So How Do you load new firmware on your ipod?

another thing is I have firmware 2.2.1 and all the jailbreak progs I have looked into give instruction for firmware 2.0. Is there going to be any problem going from version 2.2.1 down to 2.0?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

2.0 is a 1st generation iPod firmware if you have 2.2.1 then you would need the 2.2.1 firmware

2g firmware goes: 2.1.1, 2.2, 2.2.1

that being said.....

I believe if you get redsn0w you will not need to download a firmware as it does it all on the device without loosing any data on it already.

here is a video showing how to use redsn0w with 3.0.... however it is the exact same thing for 2.2.1 on mac or windows
