I just found this forum and registered to hopefully get some help. My wife lost her IPOD recently at a restaraunt and I bought her a new one on Craigslist. The guy I bought it from said it is Jailbroen and had a ton of crap on it she really doesn't need.

So I went under settings on it and did the factory restore so when she gets it all of the stuff will be gone and she can customize it to her liking.

It is now frozen on the Apple logo. It has been sitting there for hours. I went online to see if I could find a solution ajnd everything says to hoo it up to itunes. Problem is this is a new ipod to our computer. I hooked it up and I cant get anything out of it.

The computer doesn't even read it as being hooked up and Itunes shows absolutely nothing. All of her old stuff is in there from her previous ipod.

If anyone has any suggestions I would surely appreciate it. This is abirthday gift for her and I am afraid I may have ruined it.

Thanks in advance for anyone's suggestions.

First of all, try holding the lock button (the top one) and the home button (the circle one) and see if it restarts after about 10 seconds.

If not, you need to get it to turn off somehow so you can put it into recovery mode. Try holding the top button and see it if turns off. If it does, hold the home button (whilst it's turned off) and connect it to the computer whilst holding it. iTunes should popup and say that this iPod is in recovery mode.

Thanks for your response. I held it down and nothing. I held them both down and after shutting off it powers back on to that apple logo.

I plug it into a computer and it doesn't register anything. Click on my computer and it as if nothing is plugged into one of the USB ports.

Should I just let the battery drain it??? Hope I didn't screw her gift up.

Still need help. I let the battery drain over night. I opened Itunes and then plugged the ipod into my computer and that same Apple icon came up IMMEDIATELY. MY computer doesnt even recognize anything is plugged into the USB Ports. It is like nothing exists.

Please someone help. I would be forever grateful

Stilts Is the Cable for the iPod the Original,or is it one that you have had...sometimes these ipods can be finicky on what cable you Use. Try another cable and see if that works ....

I read somewhere on a websit that sometimes the Springboard freezes up .

What is required to do is leave the ipod Plugged in up to an hour .
Or try this:

To get it recognized I think you should plug it in and hard reset(home and lock button until it goes off)
After again hold home and lok for 15 seconds then release the lock button but continue holding the home for ten more seconds.

Btw have iTunes open. And by then I think iTunes should recognize it as a device that needs restoring. Just hit restore and see if it'll restore it.

When you reset (off + home... then release off when Apple logo appears) Does it go to the USB screen showing the usb plug?
