So I just restored my ipod touch and now it keeps saying BSD root: md8, major 2, minor 0

Is my ipod bricked? Can I just return it to the store I got it from?

I'm assuming you were trying to jailbreak it?

Restore again, then try using ZiPhone 3.0 (available at ziphone.org)

I fixed it by forcing it to go into recovery mode.
