because i am getting a touch, i would like to jailbreak my ipod to run the iphone apps, BUT as i do not have an iphone to 'borrow' apps from where can i download apps such as maps and weather?😕

At the moment no, but as sure as day is day when the touch nears release or starts shipping folks will upload the apps.
