I have a old iPod touch which in rarely use can I remove my iTunes library from my iPod touch without losing my music which is on my MacBook Air ?

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say. Are you asking if you can clear the music off the iPod without affecting the MacBook's iTunes library?
Is your music stored in files or is it streamed over the cloud? Which generation of the touch is it?
If it's stored locally, it won't change anything. If it's over the cloud it should be fine too, even if something got deleted you can always redownload it
Gosh I don’t know to it’s stored in files or streamed I have music files on my MacBook not in iTunes
IF it's not maintained by iTunes it's probably all files, it won't affect anything since the touch is using its own library
