hey i completely forgot my ipod passcode lock. its not jailbroken so i dont think i can ssh can i? and if so what would i do? just bottom line how can i disable the passcode lock?? also, when i plug it into itunes, it says it can not sync because of the passcode and therefore i can not restore because the ipod doesnt pop up under "devices".

Read the OP, he stated that iTunes *didn't* unlock it for him.
Tough luck OP, maybe try going to an Apple Store and see if they can do anything?
I did find some steps on the internet when I search google but inevitably you would need to do a restore and thus lose all the data on your ipod touch.

yea i would be fine with restoring it but the thing is it wont let the ipod access iTunes. any way i could restore it would be fine.

Turn your iPod off, Press and hold the Sleep & Home buttons for exactly 10 seconds. Then let go of the sleep button.
It should register in iTunes as an iPod in Discovery mode and needs to be restored
