I have an 8gb iPod Touch that I got back in June of this year.

I find that when I turn it back on (from being turned off to conserve the battery), it takes about 33 seconds to boot back up.
That's 33 seconds with just the apple logo on the screen.

Is it normal for it to take this long?

If so, what the heck is it doing in those 33 seconds?
I had figured that since the whole thing is RAM based anyway, if anything, it would boot faster than a laptop...

?

Its normal for it to take that long. Things it does include a startup and quick calibration of the touch screen, loading the WiFi firmware, and a quick disk check. It is not RAM based. It's flash base, like a SSD.
