iPod Touch - song sorting jacked

Brand new iPod Touch from Apple. Added 8600 songs from iTunes. Worked fine for a couple weeks. Slowly but surely, as I add/delete/change songs via iTunes my list of songs begins to mis-sort, alphabetically.

My sort info and display info are all correct inside of iTunes.

I have an iPhone with similar assortments of material from the same iTunes and it sorts just fine.

I've tried manually restoring the iPod to original but invariably the mis-sorting creeps up again.

Any suggestions? Applecare not much help. (see uploaded screenshot)
