Portland, OR - Pioneer Square store has 8 and 16gb models. I know this because I just bought one on my lunch break ;) (16gb)

Can't wait to get home and test this thing out!

Your lucky Bluush. Let us know how the screen is. Reports are that some of them have color shifting and what not.

It won't show any other screen aside from the itunes logo w/ arrow.. .don't have my Mac here so can't sync til I get home. I'll keep you posted! Should be home in 2 hours

By the way, compared to the iPhone, this thing is INSANEly thin. My last iPod is a 1gen Nano (1gig model) and this is about as thick as that... really amazing to see technology unfold so rapidly like this.

Yea keep us updated. If you can get pics and your first initial reaction and start a new thread in the iPod forums that would rock. I would pick one up tonight and do it myself but the Providence Place store doesn't have any right now.

These are definetely in the Wild.... I was just a Local Best Buy and someone bought a 16gb Model, I think those were the only ones they had.

Didn't have it on Display, just in the back so they must of just got them in.

On the other hand, I got my first glimpse at the new Nanos and my god those things are tiny... The Pictures really do make them look huge. You have to see one in person.

I'm debating on what to do with my $100 iPhone Credit.... Buy a New Nano, or Give my Dell Laptop to my Dad b/c our home computer sucks, and buy me a new Macbook for $899.

Decisions, Decisions.

I will do that, no problem. I also just got a nice digicam so the pics should be nice ;)

Also, for those in downtown Portland: The Pioneer Square store is running low on 16gb models (3 left?). 8gb seem to be more plentiful, perhaps due to lack of sales? Neither model is on display yet... the boxes were sitting behind the counter. It almost seems like the employees were trying to keep hush hush about it for some odd reason.

edit: this is going to be the longest last 2 hours of work, EVER! :p

I saw the Nanos too and they are indeed very sexy and small. Video in a small device like that isn't so bad as long as you don't expect it to be fantastic. I bought a new macbook about 6 months ago in black refreshed from the apple store and its some of the best money I've ever spent. The thing is a finger print magnet but it is beautiful and pretty darn speedy.

Call call call call call.

I got my Ipod Touch today at the Apple store in cambridge mass today. Even if they say "they don't get in stock till the 28th", ask anyway or call again and wait for another associate to talk to. I had many associates say yes and many say no...but ask and you will receive! They told me they had 4 ipod touches shipped to them, and 2 available to be put on hold, so i held one and rushed over there, so now i have the new Ipod Touch. Just keep asking apple stores. They have veeeery limited amounts, but they do have them.

Good info! I will bug the stores next to me. The one in Rhode Island is closest to me so thats my best bet. I will call Best Buy and see if they have any at all.

Where do you live? Because I just called like 4 Best Buys around me and none knew when they were coming in. Its like a great puzzle.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this but all those pics looked really blurry :(

Maybe from all the excitement of not being able to hold the darn thing still or from going into the closet to get a tripod.. Oh well. I don't even know why people take pictures of the whole unboxing process.. it's like watching an exotic dancer do her thing right after the curtains close.. A Tease I tell ya... TEASE :D Just playing

I'm excited to hear that someone bought an ipod (touch) from a best buy because I don't have an Apple Store within 500 miles.

Personally, I'm going to wait (and it might be hard if the nearby Best Buy gets them in) and buy it at Costco because they have a very liberal return policy. 90 days, no questions asked (they used to have unlimited, and I know someone who returned their malfuntioning 5.0 g ipod and recieved a 5.5g ipod Plus $50 because the price was lower!)

Then, if it turns out the video is really sub-par, the audio hiss is horrible, and if over the course of 3 months the deviced isn't hacked into a full-fledged mini computer (ok, I'd be more than happy with iphone functionality, but I'd love a word processor) I'll be able to return it without a restocking fee and consider a hacked iphone, maybe one on clearance after macworld 2008.

P.S. I also saw a nano the other day and wow, it is hard to call it fat because it's so thin. In face, has anyone tried sticking it their wallet (or similar item) because if it isn't there yet, it's close. Especially if they come out with a version in the future that is just the size of the current screen and has multi-touch, then you've got a video ipod not only in your pocket, but in your wallet, and wouldn't Steve love to show us that in a keynote!

Macbook. For sure.

I bought a 16 gb ipod Touch tonight at a local Best Buy. It's worth it calling your local ones and asking. Supposedly the larger stores have a few in stock. Apple stores in my area were out of them. I guess they didn't get more than 10-15 or so. I'm syncing right now and will post first impressions soon.

typing this from the touch. I got it from a best buy in Janesville wi if anyone cares. It is worth every penny. I got the 16gig. :)
