Does anyone know when the Touch will get updated? I figure it will before the 3G release not? The Touch, in my opinion, is overpriced especially compared to the 3G. So I was wondering if anyone knew, cuz I want to get one, but didn't want to buy one just before the update.

On the other hand, what sorta updates can be expected?
    -Bluetooth would be nifty.
-Maybe just a simple price drop? That would be a definite plus.
-Memory expansion? 64Giggers maybe? Prolly not.

    Probably not.
    Maybe sometime in the future.
I can see this happening. When? Who knows?

The iPod Touch is basically an iPhone without:
    -Phone
    -3G
    -GPS
    -Speakers
    -Bluetooth
    -Camera

I do think Apple is trying to separate the iPhone from the iPod Touch as much as possible.

Quick question: Will the iTouch bought after July 11 get the 2.0 software included? Or will you still have to buy it as an upgrade? And what are the odds we'll see a redesign on the 11th, too?

    1) Depends on where you buy, but after the 11th I'm sure touches will eventually include the 2.0 software (as in Touches manufactured after the 11th will most likely include 2.0).

    2) The chances of a redesign on the 11th are next to nothing

Based on past updates, Apple will probably do their annual iPod refresh somewhere between August and October. I'd think the price drop will come soon, as the iPod touch is now more expensive than the iPhone. I hope they include built-in speakers and maybe a camera. :D

speakers I could see being a reality.

a camera god no, why do people obsess about a camera in the touch? do people not have cameras already or something? the iPod at heart is just a music and video player with a photo viewer theres no need for a camera. if you want to take pics use ur mobile or take a camera out with u and be done with it :p

bluetooth is a question mark I know people say bluetooth for earphones but really how many people actually walk round with wireless earphones........ I have never seen anyone with em so from that point of view it wouldn't be in the interest of apple to include such a feature.

he's not wrong, UK prices for Ipod and iPhone

    Cost of 8GB iPhone 3G £99
    Cost of 16GB iPhone 3G £159

Cost of 8GB iPod Touch £199
Cost of 16GB iPod Touch £269
Cost of 32GB iPod Touch £329

if you went for the iphone on pay as you go then it works out WAY cheaper to get a touch

8GB iPhone on Pay and Go £370
16GB iPhone on Pay and Go £470

(these were the initial prices given by O2 before they removed them off their site)

    Help!!!

I need a lot of help. I'm new to this iTouch thing. I had the very old nano until it was just recently replaced with the iTouch. I don't get it... at all. My iPod doesn't let me connect to the internet. It doesn't hook up with the Wi-Fi service. It also doesn't connect with something called the SML service. I don't get this at all!!! I need someone to please help me. PLEASE!

    Please reconsider.

    Please, Not THIS again.

The iPod touch is NOT more expensive than the iPhone 3G.

You can currently buy iPod touch for £199 (8GB) or £269 (16GB).

On July 11th, I will be buying the iPhone 3G.

I will incur an initial cost of £159 for the 16GB model.

I will then incur a monthly charge of £24.50 over 18 months.

    £24.50 x 18 = £441.00

    £441.00 + £159.00

    Totaling: £600.00

    iPod touch - £269 Maximum
    iPhone 3G - £600 (£24.50/dis 18/mos UK).

    ** I'm getting 30% o2 discount.
The picture is slightly different for a normal buyer:

They will incur an initial cost of £159 for the 16GB model.

They will then incur a monthly charge of £35.00 over 18 months.

    £35.00 x 18 = £630.00

    £630.00 + £159.00

    Totaling: £789.00

    iPod touch - £269.00 Maximum
    iPhone 3G - £789.00 (£35 18/mos UK).

The iPod touch is NOT more expensive than iPhone 3G.

    Thank you for reading,

Well my iPod Video 30gig is broken. It's been broken for about 2 months now. I was waiting to get an Iphone but my dad won't pay for the service. :(
I really want an iPod Touch, but should I wait even LONGER to buy one? I would like one before I take my vacation on July 30th, or at least back to school August 26th. Do you think it will be updated before then? If not, what do I do?

Apple is in the middle of the college promotion right now with the ipod touch. I doubt very much any update will come before this is over. This is usually a good way for them to move old stock before updating a line in the fall or early winter. So if you really need it, just get it but if you can hold out then hold out, but I wouldn't put money on an update before the summer is out.
