Hi

I have bought the Apple AV composite cables, but when trying to play a video from my ipod touch on my tv I am just getting sound with a blank screen.

Everything is turned on and plugged in correctly, but still no joy.

Can anyone help with this?

Can you play the video on your iPod just fine?
When connected, does the video play on the ipod itself or is there a still image?

If the video is NOT playing on the iPod, but you CAN hear the sound through your TV, the problem is probably your TV...

Can you test the composite inputs of your TV with another source? (DVD player, playstation, whatever ... ?)

The video is not playing on the ipod, I just get the still picture. This occurs as soon as a plug in the lead (whether it is connected to the tv, or not).

I will chek the lead as you suggest, but the tv is only 6 month old and my video camera works fine, so it's bit of a puzzle???

Are you connecting to the composite or the component TV input?

the composite. I have disconnected the yellow (video) plug, while playing a video, and that doesn't seem to make any difference, i.e. still cystal clear audio, but no picture. So, is the problem with the cables??

Think I'll go to Apple shop in Liverpool (even though bought on-line) to test lead and ipod.....I'll let you know the outcome.

I have this same problem, I bought the Apple Composite AV Cable
(part number MB129LL) I only have sound but the image on my Ipod works fine and the sound is through the TV.

Do I need the other Apple Component AV Cable (part number MB128LL)??

found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1454

or should this not matter...I've tried on 3 TVs and none have an image.

I'm guessing, Trebnik, (from the reference to Liverpool) you're in UK.

Try Settings: Video: TV Out: TV Signal = PAL?

(Also, this IS a genuine Apple-supplied cable? Cheap Chinese cables don't work any more - the latest firmware from Apple requires a responder chip in the cable, that cheap non-Apple cables don't have. Yet.)

I know your reply was to the original poster, however my cables are legit from the apple store and im also in uk. The Ipod is set to PAL
