okay.. so I dropped my ipod touch 3rd gen in the bathtub, I know, real smart.. anywho, I freaked out and turned it on before going to my computer and looking up what to do when something like this happens and I found out that you aren't supposed to turn it on, oops. I did get it to turn on, screen worked, sorta, to me it looked like the back light on it was toast, and that was kind of it, it also did all those wonderful lines across the screen, but it kind of stopped, still made sound out of the speaker in it, and so on, never got to check it with headphones, charger port works, kinda, and I say kinda because I plugged it into my wall and it worked, and I plugged it into my computer and that worked, itunes said I needed to restore it to factory settings, so I tried that, and it said it worked, but then it told me to do it again, and again, and again, and my computer kept beeping like the ipod kept coming unplugged but it wasn't because I was holding it still.

Right now, its in a bag of rice in need of being restored to factory settings, so I really don't know whats going on with it, any other suggestions?

The water inside probably fried it when you turned it on :(

I slipped into my pool and got my itouch wet. I immediately put it in a bag of rice and, after 3 days, took it out and plugged it into my comp to charge with no response. I plugged it into the wall and all that appears is the charging battery image on red. It has not charged any more, and after a few hours it hasn't changed. It does not respond to anything. What should I do?

help me pleassse

pleassssse help .

i dropped my ipod touch in water ,but it only sat there for about 5 mins . the problem is i immediately tried to open it . i opened it for a second then the screen went dark .

i have been putting it in rice for about 3 days now . now i tried to open it .it wont work at all . should i try to charge it ???? ,,, i heard that someone had the same problem his ipod wouldn't work after 3 days but when he tried after 2 weeks .it worked . so should i just be patient and re-place it in rice for couple of days more ????? or is that just useless ??

also if the ipod is dead ,will the data on it be lost to ??

5 minutes in the water will pretty much destroy the iPod. If you tried to turn it on that probably finished it off. You're pretty much out of luck.

No way to get the data off either. Do you have a backup on iTunes?

no i don't have a back up on itunes , it's the NOTES on the ipod that matter the most . it's just that i read how some people having the same problem managed to get it work (by waiting a week or two )

Yes, but those people who did get their iPod to work again did not try to turn it on immediately after retrieving it from the water. They waited several days to a week or more before doing so.

Turning on an electronic device while there is water in it will invariably kill the device.

My ipod got accidentally left outside and i rained on it[I thought I brought it inside and just misplaced it in the house, but apparently it was outside]

So I left it in rice for 5 day. Charged it yesterday and it turns on, but there's water stains(?) on the screen and it won't let me slide to unlock[basically it wont respond to touch]

Anything I can do? If I can't is it possible to get a refurbished ipod touch at apple?

I did turn it on.. Whoops

:apple::apple:okay, so i left it in the rain but it was covered with a sleeping bag, after i got it out i didnt think it would be damaged so i turned it on, and it kept turning on and off. however the next morning it was fine, then it died, and now it wont turn back on even though i left it in rice over night. right now i am going to leave it in rice for a while. ALSO the warranty does says it doesnt cover liquid damages, but thats for like soda and coffee they do cover water damage. at least thats what it said... So can anyone help me? should i leave it in the rice longer???:apple::apple:

Sell it used as is on ebay. Take funds and buy used or refurbished. You can try to sweet talk the Genius at apple store, bat your eyes, etc. Sometimes they will swap it out for free.
