Apple used to do a yearly iPod touch upgrade but now it is every 2 years, so the next one will be next year, most likely with a larger screen (if the iPhone even gets one)

Apple updates iPod touches every two years after iPhones are updated. The next iPod touch will likely be released in Q3 2014
