I just called my local apple store and the sales rep she had just received the shipment of new ipods but had yet to open the boxes. I have a class right now but when it's over I'ma go get my new touch. Will update w/ pics soon.

Thanks for telling us which store/country is local to you. I know you probably did this for the security of making sure The Internet didn't buy all of them before you could get there.
Houmph, I ordered mine on Sep 1, 2010 at 11:06 am (US westcoast time) and mine hasn't even been shipped yet! I'm going to go to a couple of stores tomorrow and check if they already got them, then I'm gonna cancel my preorder and just buy it there. I'm in Germany.
Probably be best just to cancel now before it ships if you're going to do that. You won't get it for 3-5 days after the launch date at the earliest anyway.

yeah. i told her i'd be there later to pick one up and she said fine.
and i asked her if they weren't just a shipment of the old ones and she specifically told me that they are the new ipods

By the way, their answering phone system tells you how many calls are ahead of you when you call them, isn't that cool!

its still annoying though. it had a max queue of 8 people, andit just says "there are more than 8 calls ahead of you"
Oh, really? I did not know that. I've always caught it where there were like 3-4 ahead
