iPod touch ipod tough screen sensitivity

Does the sensitivity of the screen of the ipod touch deteriorate over time. Mine is over four years old and sometimes I have trouble stopping or starting the songs. It just doesn't seem to respond. I have tried restored it twice.

Could be a defect or that it does deteriorate, but probably only after many years. It probably helps if you use a screen protector.

if you press it hard alot that can start to break it over years and years but screen protecters do help
