I just installed the iPod update 1.1 The equilizer is so cool, and the phone number, adress, yadda yadda I haven't tried yet.

In the eternal words of Cartman.... 'kick a$$'... It's still a bit weak with the stock ear buds, but with my pair of Koss headphones, it ROCKS!!! I noticed the other day that some sites are selling the exact same headphones that I use (have had them for well over three years, paid $50 for them back then). I HIGHLY recommend them for anyone that has an iPod and wants to have it perform sweet.

BTW, my teeth are rattling with the EQ set to Bass Booster.. Gotta love it :D

EQ is OK, but...

You can't customize it at all.

They are all fixed.

I have over 1200 songs and each CD seems to be at a different volume level (very slight differences, with the exception of much older style music) and almost each CD would require it's own tweaking/equalizing.

I'm hoping that in the future, you could set the EQ and apply those settings to specific songs or CDs.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE IT! But I probably won't mess with switching EQ settings too often.

I have tried the Contacts thing and it totally kicks BUTT!!

The clarity and quality is fantastic.

Also the fast forward features and the time remaining/played showing at the same time is great!

I cannot say enough how much I love this thing! I also noticed that the sleep timer goes up to 120 minutes now. As I recall, it used to only go up to 60 minutes or so.

THANK YOU APPLE! Keep it up!

On the Apple web site they say you can specify your own EQ settings in iTunes and then apply them to specific songs and have it all carry over to the iPod.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'll mess around tomorrow morning with all the new features! Exciting!

iPod Update

I didn't think it would be this much better. Wow!

Others have mentioned the EQ and contacts things (both of which I like a lot). The thing I am probably most impressed with, though, is how quickly it skips through songs when I hit the "Forward" key. I didn't see this documented anywhere (although I'm sure it's out there somewhere). This is just a HUGE update.

Yeah, this update is awesome! I just downloaded the Contacts Import script from the Apple web site and it imported my contacts from Address Book beautifully! Took a little tweaking to get the info to show up exactly how I wanted it, and it lacks the knowledge to show stuff like "Pager" or "AIM".

I think it only recognizes Home, Work, and Mobile at this point. But it's still so cool!! I'm jazzed that Apple finally took it upon themselves to add this feature instead of leaving 3rd parties to fumble around with it. (I thought the whole "short mp3 masquerading as a contact" was lame anyway...)

Okay, this will hold me over until July. :D
