You seem almost as happy as I am :D

I've just spent 20 or so minutes finding gapless tracks, winding the scroll wheel to the end of the track to hear the effect, scrolling to the next track... The poor thing was vibrating like crazy, a bit like a pager. :p

I updated to 1.2 and my movies disappeared from my iPod and now refuse to sync. They no longer play in iTunes 7, either.

Dops you need Quicktime 7.1.3 for playing video, and I assume syncing, in iTunes 7. It just appeared in Software Update. But I have like one iTMS TV show on my iPod, I synced it with iTunes 7 before I've installed the Quicktime update and it's still there on the iPod. Hopefully installing the update will get your movies back on your iPod.

I was getting somewhat nervous during the announcement today, because it wasn't explicitly stated that gapless playback would be available for the current iPod, so happy that it is :)

i updated my older 5g today to 1.2 expecting all of thoughs features e.g search. now when i try to install rockbox and ipod linux back it dosent work saying it cant read the apple partition of the hd. when do you think ipod games will apearr on p2p or torrents? oh and wats up with the new blue itunes icon

Did upgrading to 1.2 take forever for other people too?

It's been running for a good 15 minutes now...

i would say that somethings wrong i took my ipod 2 minutes on the computer then about another 2 minutes to reflash itself

It's not Apples responsibility to maintain compatibility with third party, unauthorized iTunes clones. The developers will have to update their software. Give them a hand rather than moan at Apple.

How often do you see Apple DRM'd AAC music files on P2P or Bittorrent? Not very often I would guess.

It's hardly new, Apple used this for iTunes version 2

I am LIVID that the software update does NOT contain the smart search function for all 5G ipods!

WHY!?!?

Gapless songs are great, so is the "Smart Scroll™" function, and Brightness control. Even still, why is one of the most powerful features within the new software disabled on 5th Generation ipods? Is Apple going to say that the hardware inside is that different? (besides the screen)

I do appreciate the software update to get 90% of the new ipod features, however skipping out on one makes absolutely no sense!
