Just got my 30 gig iPod and am having problems when trying to update it. Since initially loading my library onto it (which went fine), now whenever I connect and update, it gets stuck: iTunes just tells me it's updating and not to disconnect, but never stops saying that. I've tried force quitting but the next time I connect and update, it does it again. Do I have a defective iPod?

I think you might have Enable Disk Use ticked in the iPod Preferences (within iTunes Preferences). If so, you can either uncheck it or just manually eject your iPod each time you want to unplug it. You can eject it through Finder, Explorer or iTunes (grey symbol next to iPod in the side bar thingo). :)

I took a look and didn't have it checked, so I just restored my iPod and it seems to have done the trick. We'll see. Thanks for the suggestion.
