Hi everyone,
I've been reading this forum for a few days.
A few months ago, long story short, my iPod was splashed with - not dropped in - salt water. For a while it was frozen on the lock screen, not responding at all. I let the battery drain overnight and then plugged it into a computer the next morning. For about a day and a half it said "Please wait - very low battery" but ended up working in the end. Only problem is, it won't shut off.
It won't do anything when I hold down the play/pause button. Resetting it (menu+center) doesn't help either. I've even tried that sleep option on the main menu - no response, just a reset if it's plugged into the computer.
It's a 30gb iPod Video (I think they're iPod classics now? Don't have a clue 😛). I'm running the newest version of iTunes on Windows Vista, although I had xp for a while after the incident (Although I haven't tried a Mac yet - hoping to get a MacBook in May, Vista isn't *That* bad 😉 ).
Of course, it hasn't been much of a problem... I have an iLife docking station to charge it, and I rarely use it away from home or for more than a few hours. Still though, I seem to be using it more lately, so that's why I'm starting to get concerned about this after six months or so 🙂 .
I'm pretty sure the warranty has expired too. If there's a way to get out of this without buying anything or tearing the iPod open, it'd be much appreciated.
Thanks.
